Over the summer months, when schools have broken up and many people are away on holiday, we have a slightly different pattern of worship in our benefice.

St. Margaret’s church in Bygrave, based in the centre of the local farming community, holds special harvest services in July and September (click here to find out more), but does not meet to worship during August.  Instead, the church is open, and visitors are welcome to drop in to appreciate the historic building, beautiful Millenium window and peaceful churchyard.

St. Mary’s in Baldock moves to a more relaxed pattern of Sunday worship during August.  Most of our usual children’s and youth groups take a break and our main worship service at 9.30am every Sunday, is a simpler, family-friendly service of worship or communion.  The church continues to be open every day and a great place to chill out, physically and spiritually, on hotter days! (See our ‘What’s On’ page for all the forthcoming events and services)

Our modern lifestyle is often very busy, and it is good for our bodies, minds and souls to take the opportunity to slow down.  Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11.28.)  If you are feeling tired and worn-out, I pray that you will find some time to rest this summer.

Warmest wishes,

Phillipa
